About Claire
I am a Health and Care Professionals (HCPC) registered Counselling Psychologist (BSc and DCounsPsych) with extensive experience working across various mental health settings within the NHS and charity sector.
Starting therapy can feel a little daunting and people undertake this journey for various reasons. Often it is because life feels dissatisfying or overwhelming, or perhaps relationships with other people have become painful or challenging. Whatever the reason you have sought out therapy my aim is to provide a safe and containing space for you to explore the difficulties you are currently facing in a way that feels useful, non-judgemental, and supportive.
My approach as a Counselling psychologist is to focus on you as an individual and to find a way of working together that best suits your needs. I have trained in various evidence-based modalities in particular as a psychodynamic practitioner, however I also have experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), systemic and narrative approaches, mindfulness, and Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT). I draw on these approaches to work with individuals who would like to understand themselves better, and those experiencing anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, depression, and various other difficulties. I believe flexibility is key as what works for one person might not for another and therefore it is best to tailor the approach as a collaborative endeavour. I can offer short term interventions in which we work on something specific, or longer term psychotherapy where we explore at a deeper level how the past might be impacting on current life events or relationships.
I offer in person sessions on Monday afternoons or evenings.
Cost per 50 min session: £100
