About me
I am a Health and Care Professions Council registered Counselling Psychologist and chartered member of the British Psychological Society. I have many years’ experience working in the NHS providing psychological assessment and therapy to adults across different settings and I now work in private practice.
I offer short or long term individual psychotherapy to adults seeking help for a range of issues. These may be longstanding or complex, or might be specific difficulties that have developed more recently. As a counselling psychologist I have trained and practiced in several models of psychotherapy including psychodynamic, systemic, humanistic, and cognitive behavioural therapies, and integrate these to meet individual needs. I primarily draw on psychodynamic and systemic models of therapy. This approach includes exploring early life experiences to understand how they are related to current difficulties, as well as developing a greater awareness of unconscious motivations and conflicts and their influence on how we relate to ourselves and others.
The therapy I offer is suitable for a wide range of difficulties including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, adjustment to change, loss, relationship difficulties, sexuality, issues around identity, feeling stuck or unfulfilled, and somatisation.
Seeking therapy is a big step and it can be a daunting process. My aim is to offer a safe, respectful, non-judgemental space where it feels possible to be open and curious. I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation to have an initial discussion about how I work and what you are hoping for from therapy. If we agree to meet, we will explore the reasons for seeking therapy in more depth. This is an opportunity for me to develop an understanding of your difficulties, and for you to get a feel for how I work. Following this we may agree to continue working together and develop an initial treatment plan. If I think another approach or service may be more suitable for your needs, I will offer advice and signposting.
I offer in person sessions on Thursday mornings and Friday afternoons at The Couch, with some provision for online sessions.
Cost per 50 min session - £120 for individuals
