About me
I am a Registered Clinical Psychologist and Chartered Psychologist. I offer the highest quality psychological therapy to individuals, families and groups of people of all ages either through short-term focused interventions or longer term psychotherapy. I also support personal development, help enrich personal lives and guide people toward realising their potential. My high level of training and experience enables me to create highly effective bespoke psychological interventions tailored to each individual need.
Personally, I believe psychological therapy should be an enjoyable experience which is both creative and artistic in its form. It's like helping people paint pictures of their lives. Then working alongside those people to bring an interpretation to their experience that facilitates growth and personal development, whilst reducing distress and discomfort. I'm able to do this through my understanding of different therapeutic approaches which include, amongst other things; CBT, mindfulness, compassion focused therapy, meta-cognitive approaches, psychodynamic psychotherapy, couples/family work and mentalization based therapy.
In my work as a clinical psychologist I have an interest in developing the psychological well-being of both individuals and communities. I remain committed to the NHS where I continue to work with people who present in crisis, often with suicidal thoughts. It's complex work but worthwhile as it saves lives.
I have a specialist interest in suicide prevention and the psychology of men and boys and set up a community interest company in 2009 called Men's Minds Matter. MMM is an equality initiative and was born from a long standing interest for equality and balance. It was set up to specifically address the high rates of suicide observed in men and boys. Although I specialise in this area my clinical work at The Couch is with all genders.
I currently offer sessions on a Tuesday evening and on Wednesday's throughout the daytime and evening. My cost per session is £130 / 50 mins for individual session and £170 / 50 mins for couples and family works
